What vehicle characteristics does Spyglass recognize?

In addition to capturing plate numbers, Spyglass also captures the full vehicle ‘fingerprint’. This includes Make, Model, Color, and Country (including State). A future version will also include vehicle types.

Does Spyglass work in landscape orientation?

Yes. You can scan in landscape and portrait orientations. In fact, nearly the entire app is built to work in both orientations – use the app in landscape and / or portrait without missing a beat.

How much available storage do I need on my phone?

To install the Spyglass mobile application, approximately 95MB is required. Additional storage will be required for scanning plates.

Does Spyglass work with moving vehicles?

Yes. Not only does Spyglass also work FOR moving vehicles, it also works while scanning FROM moving vehicles. With the push of a button, you can optimize its performance even further by choosing from ‘Handheld’ or ‘Moving’ scanning modes.

Does Spyglass work in multiple countries?

Yes. Spyglass works in over 170 countries. Up to 5 countries are possible simultaneously. To select your desired countries, simply go to Settings > Country Options > Add.

What operating system does Spyglass work on?

Spyglass requires Android 10 or above. In the future we will also support iOS. Please contact us if you need iOS and we’ll keep you posted: product@spyglasstech.co

How do alert lists work with Spyglass?

If a plate number is present on an active alert list, Spyglass will display an alert upon plate detection and require user acknowledgement. You can toggle lists ‘on’ or ‘off’, to control what lists are used while scanning.

Am I able to bulk-upload plate numbers?

Yes. Spyglass allows bulk uploading of plate numbers using a.csv file template. Email us to request the template: product@spyglasstech.co.

How do I create new lists?

From the lists tab, you have two options. Simply select the ‘plus’ button to add a new list from a .csv file or start a new blank list by selecting ‘Manual’. However you start, you are thereafter free to add new plate numbers, as well as edit and remove them (including lists generated from .csv files). Once the list is created.

Is there a limit to the number of lists allowed?

No – there is no restriction on the number of lists created or stored by Spyglass. The only natural limitation will be the phone storage availability.

Can I use Spyglass with my existing back office?

Spyglass is intended to integrate with any back office. Currently, back office integrations include Vaxtor Helix (send only) and any endpoint via .json. Two-way integrations for real-time alerting directly on the device, as well as additional back office integrations is likewise a top priority. We’ll be rolling out common options over time.
